Amna Begum Community Welfare Trust

About us

Dear Supporter,

The Amna Begum Community Welfare Trust was established in 2010 to help the poor and disadvantaged people living in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. These people live in some of the harshest regions, at altitudes between 6000-13000ft above sea level.

Nearly 80% of them live below the poverty line, with almost non-existing means of livelihood and infrastructure, plus persistant natural calamity problems such as floods, landslides, avalanches and earthquakes.

Our charity, with its meagre resources, and with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers in the area, provide as much help as possible to the widows, children, orphans and the needy. We also run an annual programme of providing food packs containing wheat flour, rice, pulses, sugar, tea, cooking oil and spices to last during the month of Ramadan. We support the education of children by paying their school fees and providing books and stationary.

We also support students at University level who are unable to pursue their studies due to hardship. In the past we have helped people to start their own business, buy land to build houses and have helped girls to get married. We also provide clothing and blankets to families before the onset of Winter to alleviate the harsh conditions these people suffer. We have plans to provide sewing machines and training facilities to women to give them economic empowerment.

We need continuous help to finance all this and expand the scope of our assistance to these proud but needy people. We request your help to improve the quality of life for these people. Your kind donations are welcome and will be much appreciated.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Amtul Akhtar (Founder and daughter of Ms Amina Begum).
